Injury Report: Bulaga Returns, Lacy Improving

Right tackle Bryan Bulaga and tight end Brandon Bostick returned to practice on Wednesday, while running back Eddie Lacy continued to progress following a concussion.

Green Bay Packers right tackle Bryan Bulaga returned to practice on Wednesday, six days after spraining the MCL in his left knee in the season-opening game at Seattle.

Bulaga went through individual drills during the no-pads practice. Based on how he looked during the portion of practice open to reporters, it certainly isn’t a lock that Bulaga will play on Sunday against the Jets.

“He's been chomping at the bit the last couple of days to get out there,” coach Mike McCarthy said. “Really, we'll just see how Bryan feels tomorrow and see how we can progress with him through the padded work.”

Two starters, running back Eddie Lacy (concussion) and inside linebacker Brad Jones (quad), did not practice. McCarthy said Lacy has “progressed very quickly” and is nearing the end of the league’s concussion protocol. Jones sustained the injury in training camp and had a strong preseason, though he performed poorly against Seattle.

“He’s been fighting this thing for weeks,” McCarthy said. “It definitely didn’t help him, that’s for sure. Brad’s always responded. He’s been a good player for us for a long time. He’s obviously beat up.”

Meanwhile, tight end Brandon Bostick (fibula) and cornerback Demetri Goodson (concussion) practiced for the first time during the regular season. The absence of the athletic Bostick, who was injured in the second preseason game at St. Louis, was missed against Seattle.

“I thought Brandon looked OK today,” McCarthy said. “The kickoff cover part of it, I'm encouraged to see the video just to see the long running. But I thought in the team work he did some good things. But we'll see how he is tomorrow. The padded work will be the most important part for Brandon because he hasn't done it in a couple of weeks.”

Two Jets starters are on the injury report, with right guard Willie Colon, tight end Jeff Cumberland listed as limited. Top backup cornerback Dee Milliner, the team’s first-round pick last year, also was limited.
