Coach Mike McCarthy said Jones, a starting defensive end, is feeling better. Saturday's practice will be key in determining his ultimate availability.
Jones, McCarthy said, is "very optimistic" about being able to play on Sunday. Jones' perpetually upbeat personality, however, might fall on deaf ears.
"You have to get to know your players and you really rely a lot on the medical staff because, frankly, the conversations that I have with (young players) one-on-one, they're sometimes almost useless. I've never been told that, 'I can't play.' They want to go. I get that. Based on my conversations with every injured player at this stage of an injury, we'd be 100 percent participation based on what they've told me."
If Jones can't play, the Packers will lean heavily on Josh Boyd, who injured a knee against Chicago and missed last week's game. He is listed as probable.
For Miami, running back Knowshon Moreno is probable as he returns from a dislocated elbow sustained in the opening win vs. New England. Of key Dolphins players, cornerback Cortland Finnegan and guard Shelley Smith are the only ones who are questionable.
