Packer Report’s Special Teams Rankings

Where does Green Bay rank in the five most important categories on special teams through Week 8?

Below is Packer Report’s first special teams rankings of the season.

Special teams, ultimately, is about changing field position, and that’s our focus.

The first column is opponent net punting and the second column is net punting average, figures that show the field position changes from the punt return unit and punt unit, respectively.

The third column is starting field position provided by the kickoff return unit. The fourth column is starting field position yielded by the kickoff unit.

The fifth column is field goal percentage.

Green Bay ranked 19th in our five-category rankings at the end of last season. In the Dallas Mornings News’ extensive 22-category breakdown, the Packers also ranked 19th.
