Packers Draft Central

Here's what you need to know about all of Green Bay's picks, starting with first-round defensive back Damarious Randall of Arizona State and continuing with cornerback Quinten Rollins, receiver Ty Montgomery, linebacker Jake Ryan, quarterback Brett Hundley and three picks in the sixth

Round 1: Arizona State CB Damarious Randall

Damarious Randall
Arizona State / 5'11 / 196 lbs

  • [1] #30

Randall made his way to Arizona State via the junior college route. In the desert he started 24 of 25 games playing both cornerback and safety. That should bode well for him in the NFL. As a Sun Devil Randall finished with 177 tackles, 15 tackles for a loss, six interceptions, four forced fumbles and 12 pass deflections. He has excellent closing speed and very good cover skills for a safety. He plays bigger than his 5-foot-11 frame when you factor in his 38-inch vertical and his strength (14 reps of 225-pounds).

Round 2: Miami (Ohio) CB Quinten Rollins

Awaiting Image
Quinten Rollins
Miami (Oh) / 5'11 / 195 lbs
  • CB
  • [2] #30

Rollins is one of the storylines of this draft. He played basketball at Miami (Ohio) before converting to the game of football in 2014. Now he finds himself on the cusp of being one of the top cornerbacks drafted. In fact, some believe he could fall in the later stages of the first round. That’s truly amazing if you think about it. Would you believe Rollins had seven interceptions in his only season on the gridiron last fall? He has good size, length and is very smooth on the field. Rollins hasn’t scratched the surface yet of what he could become.

Round 5: UCLA QB Brett Hundley

Awaiting Image
Brett Hundley
UCLA / 6'3 / 226 lbs
  • QB
  • [5] #11

Hundley comes to the NFL with a ton of playing experience while at UCLA, starting all 40 games he appeared in. He finished with some nice numbers, throwing for 9,966 yards and 75 touchdown passes (25 interceptions). Hundley also rushed for 1,747 yards and 30 scores. Yes he’s an athletic, dual-threat signal caller. The knock here is that he doesn’t stay in the pocket long enough. Another negative is his 29 fumbles over his college career. But Hundley has a lot of arm talent, is smart, and has good character and leadership skills. Hundley will work hard to make himself an NFL quarterback and I really like his upside.
