James Starks Among Five Questionable for Packers

James Starks, Nick Perry, B.J. Raji, Damarious Randall and Ty Montgomery are listed as questionable for the Green Bay Packers' game at Denver.

James Starks, who leads the Green Bay Packers in rushing despite being a backup, is one of five players listed as questionable for Sunday night’s showdown at Denver.

“James looked good,” coach Mike McCarthy said on Friday morning. “Actually, I go right from here to the training room for our Friday meeting, and so far, so good.”

Starks (hip), nose tackle B.J. Raji (groin), outside linebacker Nick Perry (shoulder), cornerback Damarious Randall (ankle) and receiver Ty Mongomery (ankle) are questionable. Two starters who haven’t played for a month, safety Morgan Burnett (calf) and receiver Davante Adams (ankle) are probable.

The Packers are 6-0 and rank No. 1 in points allowed per game but Burnett’s return will be welcomed because he’s regarded as the quarterback of the defense.

“Communication’s the key,” McCarthy said, “one of the most important aspects of your game-day operation, if not the most important, so it’s something we’ve put a lot of time in defensively and have improved it to this point and still can get better at it, and Morgan’s one of the key players right in the middle of it. It will be great to have him back out there.”

Randall dropped out of Wednesday’s practice with a sprained ankle and didn’t practice on Thursday. He would have been limited had the team practiced on Friday, and he’s hopeful he’ll get some work in on Saturday.

“I’m going to do everything I can to try to play in the game,” Randall said. “At the end of the day, I’m just going to see whatever the training staff says and just see how my ankle feels and just kind of go from there.”

For Denver, rookie starting left tackle Ty Sambrailo practiced all week but is doubtful. If he misses a fourth consecutive game, Ryan Harris will move from right tackle to left tackle and second-year player Michael Schofield will get the call at right tackle.

“Here's the deal,” Broncos coach Gary Kubiak said. “He's had a full week of practice, he did practice today and took his reps. We need to go back and really evaluate, as coaches, take a look at the week's work and see if we think he's ready to go, or does he need another week? That's where we are with it. We're going to go up there this afternoon and take a good look at it. He's had a good week, but I think that we have to be smart in our evaluations and that's what we're going to do.”
