Green Bay Packers’ OL Fighting Through Injuries

Right tackle Bryan Bulaga was back after missing Wednesday's practice because of his knee.

The Green Bay Packers’ offensive line, coming off its worst game of the season at Carolina, is dealing with some aches and pains as it attempts to rebound on Sunday vs. Detroit.

On Wednesday, right tackle Bryan Bulaga (knee) missed practice and guards T.J. Lang (back) and Josh Sitton (back) were limited. On Thursday, Bulaga was back but Sitton dropped out during an individual-drills period during the portion of practice that was open to reporters.

All three were listed as limited participation on Thursday's injury report.

“I think it’s Week 10 in the National Football League; everybody has something,” Packers coach Mike McCarthy said before practice. “Our guys are battling through it just like everybody else is, so I think that’s just a product of where we are in the season.”

Bulaga and the team are being cautious with a knee injury that required surgery and kept him out of the lineup for three games earlier in the season. He has started the last four games but was added to the injury report the day on Saturday, a day before allowing a sack and a key pressure against the Panthers.

“I’m sure it didn’t help him (in that game),” McCarthy said. “He definitely had something that kept him out of practice Saturday.”

Meanwhile, the Packers’ top cornerbacks were back in action. Casey Hayward (concussion) and Damarious Randall (illness) practiced after sitting out Wednesday. So, too, was Sam Shields, who was limited on Wednesday after missing the Carolina game due to a shoulder injury sustained early the week prior in Denver. Shields and Hayward were limited while Randall was full participation.

“Coming off the field (on Wednesday), very encouraged,” McCarthy said of Shields. “I think the most information each and every week comes out of Thursday’s (padded) practice. So, I’m hopeful we feel as good today as we did yesterday coming off the field.”

Linebacker Mike Neal (hip) was the only player who did not practice. Receiver James Jones (quad) was added to the report and listed as limited.
