Bulaga, Lang, Randall Inactive for Packers vs. Lions

The Green Bay Packers will be without the right side of their offensive line for Thursday night's game at the Detroit Lions.

The Green Bay Packers will face one of the hottest defenses in the NFL with a revamped right side of the offensive line.

Right tackle Bryan Bulaga (ankle) and right guard T.J. Lang (shoulder) have been ruled out for Thursday night’s game against the Detroit Lions. In their place, Don Barclay will start at right tackle and Lane Taylor at right guard. Bulaga and Lang were questionable entering the game; Bulaga didn't practice all week while Lang was ruled limited participation all week.

That's bad news against a Lions defense that has allowed just 43 points the past three games, including 16 at Lambeau Field a few weeks ago.

Also out is starting cornerback Damarious Randall. He was full participation on Monday and Tuesday because of ankle injury but was listed as questionable on Wednesday, when he was limited because of a hamstring. Instead of having Sam Shields and Randall as the starters with Casey Hayward in the nickel, the Packers might go with Shields and Hayward outside with either Quinten Rollins or Micah Hyde playing in nickel situations.

Taylor, a third-year pro, saw his only extensive playing time at New Orleans last season, when he replaced Lang for the final 63 games. The Packers got smoked 44-23. Taylor was inactive for nine of the first 11 games of this season. Barclay started the second, third and fourth games after Bulaga sustained a knee injury at practice before the Week 2 game vs. Seattle. He played the final 17 snaps of last week’s game after Bulaga injured an ankle.

The rest of the Packers’ inactives are quarterback Brett Hundley, fullback Aaron Ripkowski, outside linebacker Andy Mulumba and receiver Ty Montgomery (ankle). Among the players who are active are centers Corey Linsley (ankle) and J.C. Tretter (ankle). Both were questionable. Tretter started last week and played most of the Minnesota game in place of the injured Linsley. Tretter showed up on Wednesday’s injury report.

Also active are receiver Jared Abbrederis, who sustained injured ribs when these teams met last month, and running back John Crockett, who was promoted to the active roster on Thursday night. In a corresponding roster move, the Packers released running back Alonzo Harris.

For Detroit, six starters were listed as questionable but only center Travis Swanson will not play. Veteran Manny Ramirez will take his place in the lineup. No. 3 receiver Lance Moore is out, as well, as is rotational defensive tackle Gabe Wright.
