Today could be the day for Brown

The only piece missing from the Packers' training camp picture could soon be in place. According to reports, nose tackle Gilbert Brown is expected to be signed by today.<p>

"I think we're fairly close," Head Coach/GM Mike Sherman said. "There are some things that have to be worked out."

Borwn, 6-2, 340 pounds, played in 12 games last year and is in his 10th season in Green Bay. The Packers originally claimed Brown off waivers from the Minnesota Vikings in 1993.

Brown has played all nine of his NFL seasons with the Packers, although he was out of football in 2000. Upon his return, Brown played in 11 games in 2001 with 33 tackles and played in 12 games in 2002 with 36 tackes.
