Mock Draft Muncher: The Green Bay Packers Select ...

The Mock Draft Muncher churns out a defensive lineman for the Green Bay Packers with the 27th pick.

With the Green Bay Packers on the clock with the 27th selection of the first round of the 2016 NFL Draft, they select ...

Vernon Butler, defensive tackle, Louisiana Tech.

That's the pick after the latest running of Scout.com's Mock Draft Muncher. The Scout.com Super Computer took 39 mock drafts and crunched them into one Super Mock. The computer spit out Jarran Reed as the most popular pick for the Packers, with Reed going to Green Bay eight times. However, Reed was the most popular selection for Washington at No. 21.

That sent the Packers to Plan B, with Butler, Alabama linebacker Reggie Ragland and Arkansas tight end Hunter Henry being picked by the team in four mocks apiece. Ragland, however, was long gone, having gone to Atlanta at No. 17. We decided to go with Butler over Henry because the Packers are short-handed on the defensive line with B.J. Raji's decision to not play in 2016, Mike Pennel's season-opening suspension and Datone Jones now more of an outside linebacker than defensive end. That leaves the Packers with Mike Daniels, Letroy Guion and Josh Boyd as the only defensive linemen to have played an NFL snap, making defensive line a big need.

The addicting Mock Draft Muncher allows you to follow all of the mock trends. What does it do?

-- It produces one big mock draft, based on the most-mocked picks for each team. Who did the Packers pick?

-- It puts together a list of the most popular selections for every team in those mocks. Who are they for the Packers? In the latest munching, five prospects were selected at least three times. Four of those players are defenders.

-- It compiles the average draft position for all of the top prospects. Receivers Josh Doctson, Corey Coleman and Will Fuller and edge rushers Kevin Dodd and Emmanuel Ogbah are among the players with an average draft slot in the neighborhood of No. 27.

One glitch in the system is the duplication of picks -- as was the case with Reed being the most popular selection for Green Bay and Washington. The following mock, produced with a combination of human ingenuity and computer processing power, eliminates that problem.
