Packers-Lions Injury Report (Thursday)

T.J. Lang didn't practice on Thursday, joining five key defenders on the sideline.

Add guard T.J. Lang to the Green Bay Packers’ list of walking wounded.

The team’s veteran right guard sat out Thursday’s practice with a hip injury. He wasn’t on Wednesday’s injury report so coach Mike McCarthy was not asked about Lang before Thursday’s practice.

Five key defensive players were sidelined for a second consecutive day: outside linebacker Clay Matthews, cornerback Sam Shields, safety Morgan Burnett, defensive tackle Letroy Guion and elephant Datone Jones.

“It’s just the way it goes sometimes,” coach Mike McCarthy said. “That’s why you work the way you do, just more opportunities for other people.”

Shields was scheduled to be evaluated off-site this week, McCarthy confirmed. McCarthy said Matthews and Burnett had good rehab workouts on Wednesday, seemingly increasing the probability that they’ll play vs. Detroit on Sunday.

With Guion and Jones injured, the Packers promoted defensive tackle Brian Price from the practice squad.

For Detroit, star defensive end Ezekiel Ansah and linebacker DeAndre Levy didn’t practice again. Another starting linebacker, Kyle Van Noy, progressed to limited participation.
