Damarious Randall Joins Sam Shields on Inactive List for Packers

That leaves the Packers with no depth at cornerback for tonight's game against the Eli Manning-powered Giants.

The Green Bay Packers will face a tall order containing Eli Manning, Odell Bekcham and the New York Giants’ passing attack on Sunday night.

Not only is Sam Shields out for a third consecutive game with a concussion, but Damarious Randall is inactive with an injured groin that limited him at practice all week.

That leaves the Packers with three pure corners on the roster: second-year players Quinten Rollins and LaDarius Gunter and undrafted rookie Josh Hawkins. Micah Hyde, who is the team’s top backup at safety, will be an option, as well. Not only has the depth been eliminated but so has the speed without Shields and Randall.

Green Bay entered this week’s games ranked 29th with 307.3 passing yards allowed per game, 29th with an opponent passer rating of 105.3 and 31st with 8.3 yards allowed per passing attempt.

In four games, Giants quarterback Eli Manning has thrown for 1,186 yards. Entering this week’s games, Giants receivers Odell Beckham, Sterling Shepard and Victor Cruz led all receiving trios with a combined 58 receptions.

Green Bay’s other inactives are quarterback Joe Callahan, offensive tackle Kyle Murphy, tight end Jared Cook (ankle), defensive tackle Brian Price and defensive tackle Christian Ringo. The Packers are going thin at defensive tackle, with Mike Daniels, Letroy Guion, Kenny Clark and Dean Lowry active.

For the Giants, running back Rashad Jennings, tight end Larry Donnell, right tackle Marshall Newhouse and safety Nat Berhe are out, meaning the Giants are down four starters. Also out is their top backup at safety, Darian Thompson. Undrafted rookie Andrew Adams will start at safety and Orleans Darkwa will start at running back.

However, cornerbacks Dominqiue Rodgers-Cromartie and Eli Apple are active. They missed Monday night’s game at Minnesota.
