Packers greats in NFL alumni event

Football fans of all ages can meet more than 100 Packers greats of the past and present and listen to Motown great Smokey Robinson Sept. 7 in Green Bay after the Packers' season opener against the Minnesota Vikings.<p>

It is all part of the Packers NFL Alumni Association's annual "Caring for Kids" fund-raiser at the Radisson Hotel and Conference Center.

"It is really a phenomenal event when you can get 100 former Packers together in one room," said Packers Alumni President John Fabry. "Rarely do fans get a chance to meet or talk with these people, much less do so in a great setting while enjoying a fabulous buffet and concert."

Among the former Packers scheduled to participate in the event include: Donny Anderson, Zeke Bratkowski, John Brockington, Robert Brooks, Willie Buchanon, LeRoy Butler, Paul Coffman, Carroll Dale, Lynn Dickey, Willie Davis, Boyd Dowler, Jim Grabowski, Paul Hornung, Bob Jeter, Ezra Johnson, John Jurkovic, Greg Koch, Jerry Kramer, Don Majkowski, Chester Marcol, Max McGee, Jim Ringo, Dave Robinson, Bart Starr, Jim Taylor, Fuzzy Thurston, Eric Torkelson and Willie Wood.

The evening kicks off with a gourmet food buffet at 5:30 p.m., featuring smoked salmon, scallop martinis, Australian lamb, smoked duck, tuna satay, herb crusted tenderloin, sauteed slipper lobster, pasta station, shrimp cocktail, smoked oysters, stone clams and mussels, chocolate dipped strawberries, international cheese display and tropical fruit display.

Tickets cost $100 for the buffet and concert, or $50 for the concert only. Call Jeff Royle at (920) 497-7225 to order tickets. 100 percent of ticket sales will benefit "Caring for Kids."
