The Green Bay Packers signed eight members of their practice squad to futures contracts on Tuesday, including defensive tackle Brian Price and safety Jermaine Whitehead.
The others are center Jacob Flores, guard Lucas Patrick, receiver Antwan Goodley, tight end Beau Sandland, outside linebacker Reggie Gilbert, inside linebacker Derrick Mathews.
Price and Whitehead spent time on the 53-man roster. Flores, Patrick, Gilbert and Mathews spent all or part of training camp with the team.
The only player not re-signed was third-year cornerback Bene Benwikere, who joined the practice squad last week. Benwikere, who started for parts of three seasons for Carolina, is the first veteran signed to the practice squad by general manager Ted Thompson. There is mutual interest in getting a deal done, a source said, but Benwikere has other options, as well.
The Packers finished the season with nine players on the practice squad after elevating receiver Max McCaffrey to the active roster for the NFC Championship Game.
