Packers Make Practice Squad Change

The Green Bay Packers re-signed free agent wide receiver Mike Horacek to the team's practice squad and released offensive tackle Mark Bristol was terminated from the same five-man squad on Wednesday.

This marks the third time that Horacek, 28, has signed with the Packers in the past year. Horacek starred in the Arena League, catching 119 passes for 46 touchdowns while with the Iowa Barnstormers during the AFL's 2000 season. Originally signed to the practice squad Oct. 11, 2000, he was terminated Oct. 31. He later was signed to Jacksonville's practice squad on December 20, 2000, then signed by the Jaguars as a reserve/future on Dec. 27 before being activated from reserve Jan. 30, 2001.

Terminated by Jacksonville March 3, the 6-1, 204-pound Horacek was claimed on waivers by the Packers March 2. He subsequently went through training camp and the preseason on the Green Bay roster, catching 2 passes for 21 yards en route, before being waived in the team's final roster reduction for the regular season Sept. 2. Horacek, who joined the Packers on the practice field this afternoon, has been re-assigned jersey number l7.
