Favre named Player of the Week

The honor is the eighth in his career...

Player of the day, week, month or year – whatever honors can be given to Brett Favre's courageous performance Monday Night are certainly well-deserved.

The NFL named Favre the NFC Offensive Player of the Week for games played Dec. 20-22.

One day after his father died of a massive heart attack or stroke while driving, Brett Favre led the Packers to a 41-7 win over the Oakland Raiders on the road last Monday night.

Favre's performance not only kept the Packers alive in the playoffs, it also was among the best of his storied career. Favre was 22-of-30 for 399 yards four touchdowns and no interceptions. The 154.9 passer rating is the highest he has achieved.

In the first half alone, Favre had four TDs and more than 300 yards en route to a 31-7 Green Bay lead and a perfect 158.3 passer rating.
