Wide receiver re-signs

The Packers re-signed wide receiver Frank Rice today. Rice spend portions of last season on the team's five-man practice squad.<p>

Rice, 26, was on the practice squad late in September and in December. He had originally signed with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers as a free agent out of Colorado State in 2001. He subsequently was injured in training camp and spent the '01 season on injured reserve. Waived April 17, 2002, he signed with Denver and went on to spend the '02 season on the Broncos' practice squad.

Rice was with the Broncos through training camp and the preseason in '03, playing in all four preseason games and catching 3 passes for 73 yards, a 24.3-yard average.He was released in the final cutdown on Aug. 31.

Rice caught 82 passes for 1,258 yards (a 15.3-yaerd average) and 13 touchdowns, sixth most in school history, at Colorado State. He earlier was all-state and all-conference at Serra (Calif.) High School, where - as a running back - he rushed for 2,800 yards, including 1,300 yards and 13 touchdowns as a senior.
