The Green Bay Packers will open their exhibition season Aug. 16, a Monday night game before a national cable television audience against the Seattle Seahawks, the National Football League announced today.<p>
The Packers, who played five exhibition games last year, will then host the New Orleans Saints the weekend of Aug. 19-23. The Packers play their final two exhibition games on the road - the weekend of Aug. 26-30 at Jacksonville, and Sept. 2-5 at Tennessee. More specific times and dates will be released in the next few weeks.
The exhibition opener against the Seahawks on ESPN is a rematch of the Jan. 4 Wild Card playoff. Green Bay defeated the Seahawks 33-27 in overtime in an NFC Wild Card game on Al Harris' 52-yard interception return.
The Packers again will play the Tennessee Titans in the exhibition finale before the regular season opener Sept. 12. Green Bay and Tennessee have concluded the preseason the last two seasons, including last year's storm-delayed game at Lambeau Field.
