2002 Preseason Schedule Announced

The Green Bay Packers will hit the road for their first two preseason games next year to give workers extra time to renovate Lambeau Field.

The Packers will play the Philadelphia Eagles in Philadelphia the weekend of August 9-11. Green Bay will then visit Phoenix the weekend of August 16-18 to take on the Arizona Cardinals.

Green Bay will plays its first home exhibition the weekend of August 23-25 against the Cleveland Browns and finish their four-game schedule against the Tennessee Titans, the weekend of August 29-31.

The exact dates and times of all four contests will be announced later, as well as which of the home games will be designated as the Bishop's Charities and Midwest Shrine games.

The Packers will play a preseason game in Philadelphia for the first time since 1945. They last met the Eagles in preseason play in 1983 (August 20), when the Birds came to Lambeau Field. The Packers also will be making their first ever preseason appearance against the Cardinals in Arizona since the Redbirds moved to Phoenix in 1988.

The Browns will be on the Packers' preseason schedule for the third consecutive year, having visited Green Bay for the Green and Gold's non-league finale in 2000 and hosted the Packers in their mutual preseason opener this season (August 11).

The Titans will be paying their first preseason visit to Green Bay. Earlier, when based in Houston and known as the Oilers, they made a preseason appearance against the Packers at Milwaukee County Stadium in 1973.
