Couch still a possibility

Tim Couch's agent spoke this week with the Packers Vice President of Finance Andrew Brandt and made progress toward a deal that could bring the QB to Green Bay - possibly even before this week's minicamp is over, according to reports.<p>

Money and length of contract are the main issues to resolve, but any conclusion reached by Couch and the club would have to involve a trade with Cleveland.

Couch's agent, Tom Condon, was confident enough about the deal to tell the Green Bay Press Gazette that Couch may be in town for the Packers' post-draft mini-camp, which opens today.

If Couch does get a deal done in time, the Packers will have five QBs in camp, including Brett Favre, Craig Nall, veteran Doug Pederson who is expected to sign a one-year deal, and undrafted free-agent Scott McBrien of Maryland.

Veterans reported today and will practice for the first time Wednesday.
