The Green Bay Packers Wednesday signed non-drafted free agent defensive end Jadae McGuire and released wide receiver Chris Shreve.<p>
McGuire played football and basketball at West Virginia Tech, a Division II school in the West Virginia Intercollegiate Athletic Conference. In 11 games last year, the 6-foot-6, 245-pound lineman had 84 tackles, nine sacks and led the conference with 22 tackles for loss. The WVIAC Defensive Player of the Year, his best effort came in a 62-35 victory at West Liberty State, Oct. 18. McGuire posted eight tackles (seven solo), four tackles for loss, three sacks and an interception that he returned 36 yards for a touchdown.
McGuire also played basketball, averaging 8.9 points and 7.4 rebounds during his last season, 2002-03.
McGuire participated on a tryout basis in the team's post-draft mini-camp. Green Bay has now signed three tryout players from the camp, including linebacker Jermaine Taylor (May 3) and cornerback Chris Day (Thursday).
Shreve, a non-drafted free agent from Virginia Tech who joined the club May 1, also participated in the post-draft mini-camp.
