Berlin Thunder wins World Bowl

Tackle Jason Jimenez, the only Packer NFL Europe allocation in World Bowl XII, saw limited playing time as his Frankfurt Galaxy squad fell to Berlin Thunder 30-24 in Saturday's title tilt.<p>

The Thunder held off a comeback by the defending champion Galaxy to reclaim the NFL Europe title. Berlin has won the World Bowl crown three of the past four seasons.

Jimenez, who did start a handful of games on the Frankfurt offensive line, came off the bench in Saturday's championship, which was played before 35,413 at Arena AufSchalke, Gelsenkirchen, Germany.

The Thunder overcame five turnovers and a furious Galaxy comeback-attempt in the final quarter of a game that was deadlocked 10-10 at halftime.

Berlin stars included Philadelphia Eagles running back Eric McCoo who gained a World Bowl record 167 yards. New England QB Rohan Davey eared a second championship ring in six months – this time as a starter. The NFL Europe's Offensive Player of the Year also collected a title with New England in Super Bowl XXXVIII Feb. 1.
