More DBs on list of wounded

The Green Bay Packers have a pretty good group of defensive backs. And that's just the guys on the sideline.<p>

A nickel package of cornerbacks Al Harris, Joey Thomas and Chris Johnson, safety/cornerback James Whitley and safety Mark Roman watched Thursday morning's full-squad practice.

The afternoon was a special-teams practice.

New to the list of wounded are Harris, out with a hip flexor, and Whitley, who took a blow to the head. They joined Thomas (bruised knee), Roman (sprained ankle and toe) and Johnson (stress fracture in leg) wearing caps while their teammates practiced.

The good news is only Johnson's injury is deemed serious. The other four, Packers coach Mike Sherman said, are day-to-day. All could be available for Saturday night's Family Night scrimmage, which the Packers on Thursday announced is sold out.

The voids gave first-round pick Ahmad Carroll a chance to work with the No. 1 defense at Harris' cornerback position.

In updates of previous injuries:

— Tight end Bubba Franks was out again, with Sherman saying Franks' chest is sore after a hard fall Monday.

— Right tackle Mark Tauscher returned after sitting out Wednesday's practices with a sprained ankle.

— Nose tackle Grady Jackson (swollen knee), quarterback Craig Nall (hamstring), wide receiver Frank Rice (knee) and offensive lineman Forest Vance (knee) remained out. The Packers have held Jackson out of the second practice of the day throughout training camp.
