The Packers got closer to their final roster with a wave of cuts Saturday. The Packers waived six players including RB Walter Williams.<p>

Williams led the Packers in rushing in their only preseason win with 40 yards on seven carries vs. New Orleans. The Grambling product did not fare as well in the three losses, tallying just 22 yards on 13 carries.

Also waived Saturday WR Wilson Thomas, who had a 37-yard reception Friday, LB Jermain Taylor and a trio of offensive linemen - Joseph Hayes, Atlas Herrion and NFL Europe standout Jason Jimenez.

The cuts brought the Packers' active roster to 67. An additional 14 player moves must be made by 3 p.m. Sunday in order to reach the NFL-mandated 53-player roster limit for the regular season.
