"Mississippi State, Ole Miss, West Virginia, Auburn, Southern Miss and Memphis," are the offers Sims says he is currently holding. "I would say Mississippi State, Ole Miss and Auburn are recruiting me hardest. I got phone calls from Mississippi State and Ole Miss this week."
The six-foot-one, 205-pounder also notes that the three SEC teams that are recruiting him the most are his current favorites.
The talented linebacker and his West Jones High teammates got their season under way, but Sims says he was not very happy with his first outing. "I didn't play too good on defense," he says. "I wasn't too pleased with myself on defense, but I had a little 80-yard kickoff return that I scored on.
"I wasn't under control and I wasn't reading my reads and I was just all over the field,," Sims adds. "I don't know. I just wasn't focused enough on defense."
The senior says that he feels like part of the problem was that he just got too excited about playing the opening game of the year. If last season's numbers are any indication, Sims is likely to get back in the groove soon.
As a junior, he piled up around 120 tackles on his way to earning All-State honors. He also played some running back and scored five touchdowns on offense.
Sims, who says he is planning on taking all of his official visits before he makes a decision, notes that he is planning on making it out to check out a few college games this fall for unofficial visits. "I am supposed to go up to Mississippi State and I am going to go check out Ole Miss when they play Vanderbilt. I am going to try and make it up to Auburn also."
