With Robert Ferguson hobbled by an ankle injury, the Green Bay Packers Saturday promoted wide receiver Kelvin Kight from the practice squad to the active roster and waived linebacker Nick Rogers.<p>
Kight was claimed on waivers by the Packers on Aug. 11 from the St. Louis Rams. If Ferguson, who was injured in practice on Thursday, does not suit up against the Detroit Lions on Sunday, Kight likely will fill in at receiver and as a backup to return specialist Antonio Chatman
. Kight averaged 13.5 yards on four returns in the preseason for the Packers.
Kight was waived Sept. 5 in the final cutdown for the regular season and signed to the practice squad two days later (Sept. 7).
Rogers, a third-year player from Georgia Tech, was claimed on waivers by the Packers Sept. 6 from the Minnesota Vikings. He had seen action in all five Packers contests this season, mostly on special teams, and was tied for first on the club with five special teams tackles.
