Packers release Jackson

With marquee running backs Ahman Green and Najeh Davenport relatively healthy, the Packers released James Jackson on Wednesday.

Jackson was signed as an insurance policy for the Nov. 29 game against the St. Louis Rams. After an impressive week of practice and lavish praise for picking up the offense quickly, Jackson was inserted into the Rams game. He was confused on where to line up, then committed a false-start penalty. Those two snaps were the extent of his Packers career.

The Packers did not make any moves to fill the vacant roster spot.
