Veteran safety signs contract

Free safety Arturo Freeman signed a one-year contract with Green Bay on Monday, according to the South Florida Sun-Sentinel.<p>

He will be reunited with Packers defensive coordinator Jim Bates, who held the same position with the Dolphins for the previous five seasons.

Freeman, 28, made a free-agent visit with the Packers last week.

During his five-year career with the Dolphins, Freeman played in 72 games, including 28 starts. He started eight games last season after Antuan Edwards was released.

Freeman, a fifth-round draft choice in 2000, has just five career interceptions but he tied for the team lead with four last season.
