June mini-camp dates set

The Green Bay Packers announced today that their second and final off-season mini-camp will be held June 1-9. Weather permitting, practices will be open to the public.

Practices will be conducted on Ray Nitschke Field at 11 a.m. June 1-3 and June 6-8. Practice on June 9 will begin at 8:45 a.m. There will be no practices Saturday, June 5, and Sunday, June 6.

Any practice moved inside to the Don Hutson Center due to cold/inclement weather or field conditions will be closed to the public for space reasons. Ray Nitschke Field is located east of the Hutson Center across from the Resch Center near Lambeau Field.

The June mini-camp is non-mandatory. In recent seasons, rookies, free agents and most veterans have taken part in practices, unless they have been rehabbing from off-season surgery.

Quarterback Brett Favre, who was excused by head coach Mike Sherman from the post-draft mini-camp, is expected to participate in the June mini-camp. His annual charity softball game is set for June 6 in Appleton.

Javon Walker, who did not participate in the post-draft mini-camp in a contract dispute, is not expected to participate in th June mini-camp.
