Pre-game White tribute set

The Vince Lombardi Titletown Legends announced today a special "Tribute to Reggie White" pre-game event for Sept. 18, the day that the late star defensive end will have his number retired at Lambeau Field.

The tribute event will include members of the White family, including Sara White, and her children, Jeremy and Jecolia, friends, former teammates and many of the Lombardi Titletown Legends.

The event is scheduled to take place at ShopKo Hall, beginning at 9 a.m. prior to the Packers home opener against the Cleveland Browns (3:15 p.m. CT start time). The event will feature presentations by family, friends, former teammates and members of the Lombardi Legends, video clips, a silent auction, Reggie White art and memorabilia gallery, and the sale of the official Reggie White "Power of 92" cap that benefits the Urban Hope Entrepreneur Center and the Vince Lombardi Titletown Legends Charitable Organization.

Tickets also are on sale for a VIP breakfast with those participating in the tribute. Reggie White became the first non-Lombardi era Packer to become part of the Vince Lombardi Titletown Legends on Sept. 7, 2003. He joined the Lombardi era players and volunteered his time to help the organization raise funds that were distributed to local charities.

"We are honored to have some of the Lombardi Legends involved in the Tribute to REggie White event," said former Packers defensive end Willie Davis. "Reggie established a new level of performance for defensive linemen in the NFL and it was thrilling for me to see another defensive end join us in the Lombardi Legends, but it was more important to see Reggie join our team in charitable endeavors.

"Anyone who knew Reggie knows he had a big heart and has made it his life's work to help others. He possesses the characteristics Coach Lombardi believed in and has applied Lombardi's principles in his life."

Ticket prices start at $20. Call (800) 708-1078 to order tickets, or go to www.lombardilegends.com.

"The tribute to Reggie event is a wonderful addition to what will be a very special day for our family," said Sara White. "I will be joined by family, friends, some of Reggie's former teammates and the Lombardi Legends. We will celebrate Reggie's life, principles and values. I want to encourage everyone to join us in the celebration. I hope to see everyone there."
