Dendy gets promotion

Cornerback moved from practice squad to 53-man roster

The Green Bay Packers today promoted cornerback Patrick Dendy from the practice squad to the active roster. Dendy takes the roster spot left open by running back Walter Williams, who was placed on season-ending injured reserve on Friday with a hamstring injury.

Originally signed by the Packers this past April, Dendy had seven tackles and broke up one pass in preseason action before the team released him at the end of August. The Packers re-signed him one week later to their practice squad, where he had spent the season's first 10 weeks.

Out of football in 2004 while completing his economics degree at Rice, Dendy lettered four seasons (2000-03) for the Owls. A 29-game starter in college, he totaled 130 tackles and two interceptions.

Dendy is the fifth player promoted from the Packers' practice squad this season.
