Packers-Eagles: Key matchups

Without Sheppard, look for Favre to attack Eagles secondary

Packers QB Brett Favre vs. Eagles CBs Sheldon Brown and Roderick Hood
As the replacement for Lito Sheppard, who suffered a season-ending high ankle sprain, Hood will be on the spot as he makes his first start of the season. Brown was burned for a 61-yard touchdown by the New York Giants' Plaxico Burress to cement a 27-17 victory Sunday, the latest in a number of big plays the Eagles' 24th-rated pass defense has yielded in recent weeks. Favre had his way with Brown in the teams' 2003 NFC divisional-playoff matchup at Philadelphia, hooking up with Robert Ferguson for two touchdowns before the Eagles rallied for a 20-17 overtime victory.

Packers LBs and safeties vs. Eagles RB Brian Westbrook
With only 480 yards on the season and a modest per-carry average of 3.8 yards, Westbrook doesn't pose a huge threat on the ground. However, he's one of the premier multi-dimensional backs, ranking ninth in the league with 1,047 all-purpose yards. He averages 10.9 yards per catch.

Perhaps more so than QB Donovan McNabb and WR Terrell Owens, Westbrook was the catalyst in the Eagles' 47-17 rout of the Packers last season at Philadelphia. Shoddy coverage and tackling allowed Westbrook to break free for 11 receptions totaling 156 yards with three touchdowns.

Other key matchups
Eagles RG Shawn Andrews vs. Packers LDT Grady Jackson
A pair of 360-plus pound sumo wrestlers. Jackson is the key to the Packers' run defense and usually requires double-team blocks.

Eagles CB Sheldon Brown vs. Packers WR Donald Driver
With Lito Sheppard on the shelf, Brown will spend much of the day with the Pack's best wideout.
