Packers injury update

Franks' status for Sunday's game uncertain

Bubba Franks returned to Green Bay Monday after spending the night in a Philadelphia hospital. The tight end was taken off the field on a stretcher Sunday after getting his in the back of his neck and uppper back by safety Brian Dawkins.

"I talked to Bubba last night (Sunday) as they were running the tests," Packers coach Mike Sherman said. "He was in good spirits, obviously disappointed about the outcome of the game as we were."

Sherman said Franks was experiencing some back pain, but "not as bad as on the field."

It is uncertain if Franks will be able to play this Sunday against the Chicago Bears at Soldier Field.

"The doctor, who is very conservative in his evaluation said don't rule him out for sure," Sherman said. "We'll see how he reacts when he gets back here."

-- Jeremy Thornburg sustained a possible season-ending shoulder injury early in the game Sunday. He sprained the A-C joint in his right shoulder while attempting to break up a wedge set by the Eagles on a kickoff return.

Thornburg had the same shoulder surgically repaired three years ago.

Sherman said the injury would keep Thornburg out indefinitely.

-- Running back ReShard Lee aggravated a rib injury while returning a kickoff in the first quarter at Philadelphia -- a play on which he fumbled. He underwent tests Monday to determine the severity of the injury.

-- Safety Mark Roman sustained a shoulder strain, but was able to finish the game.

-- Fullback William Henderson was showing no ill effects Monday from the concussion he sustained while making a tackle on a kickoff return in the third quarter at Philadelphia.

-- Sherman said wrist and shoulder injuries sustained by outside linebacker Paris Lenon shouldn't keep him out this week.

-- Outside linebacker Robert Thomas (quadriceps) and defensive tackle Corey Williams (calf), both of whom were deactivated Sunday, resumed running Monday, and their status for the next game will be determined later in the week.
