The Green Bay Packers signed free agent middle linebacker Adrian Hollingshed as an undrafted free agent today. In the process, quarterback Dave Meyer was placed on waivers.<p>
Hollingshed (6-foot-2, 245 pounds) started 11 games at middle linebacker in 1998 for the University of Georgia before he was moved to defensive end in 1999. He missed all but two
games in 1999 because of a shoulder injury, then was a backup middle linebacker in both 2000 (9 games) and 2001 (11 games).
Meyer, Virginia Tech's No. 2 quarterback over the 1998, '99 and 2000 seasons, had been signed as a free agent April 4. Originally signed by the Indianapolis Colts as an undrafted free agent April 27, 2001, he later was placed on waivers July 31 and was out of football for the balance of the '01 season.
The release of Meyer leaves the Packers with four quarterbacks: Brett Favre, Doug Pederson, Josh Heupel and Craig Nall.
