Packer trivia

As a salute to the modern-day renegade league, here are 12 questions plus a "toughie" – the World Bowl question – on those Packers who made a dent in the two circuits created to compete with the NFL: The United States Football League and the World Football League.<p>

The WFL was born in 1974 and included such teams as the Chicago Fire, Chicago Winds, Florida Blazers and Detroit Wheels. It made a ripple by raiding the NFL of such stars as Larry Csonka, Jim Kick and John Gilliam but that wasn't enough to keep it afloat. The league of colorful jerseys, "Another Black Label" and summer play could only complete one full season before collapsing.

The USFL was hatched in 1983 as a spring football alternative. Following three seasons that featured such future stars as Doug Flutie, Herschel Walker, Jim Kelly and Sam Mills, the USFL went the way of the WFL and is currently just a footnote in professional football history perfect for columns such as these.
