The numbers on Green

Small part of running back's salary is guaranteed

The one-year, $2 million contract that Ahman Green signed Monday includes a $500,000 signing bonus, which is the only guaranteed money, according to a report in the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel. The newspaper cited an NFL source that said if Green does not recover fully from his thigh injury and doesn't make the final roster, the Packers will not owe him the remaining part of the salary.

Green is rehabbing from a ruptured quadriceps tendson that he sustained last October. He will not be able to begin running for at least another month.

Terms of the deal indicate that Green is scheduled to receive a $150,000 roster bonus and a $1.35 million base salary, both payable if the Packers choose to keep him for the regular season. Because Green is a vested veteran he would be guaranteed the entire base salary if he is on the active roster the first day of the regular season.

Green also can earn another $5,700 by taking part in the team's off-season workout program.

The $2.75 million of incentives in the contract include:
-- $250,000 if he rushes for 750 yards
-- $500,000 if he reaches 950 yards
-- $500,000 for 1,150 yards
-- $500,000 for 1,350 yards
-- $500,000 for 1,550 yards
-- $31,250 for every game he is on the roster

Green's salary-cap number for 2006 will be $2.011 million, according to the report.
