Defensive end signs deal

The Green Bay Packers today signed defensive end Dave Tollefson, the last of their 12 draft picks this year, but the first to sign a deal with the team. Terms of the deal were not immediately available.

Tollefson, a 6-foot-4, 255-pound player from Northwest Missouri State, was a seventh-round, compensatory choice (253rd overall) by Green Bay.

A Division II All-American and a finalist for the Gene Upshaw Award, given to the top lineman among small schools, he had 12½ sacks in 2005, breaking his school's single-season record. He played just two seasons of college football, and in 26 games, he posted 106 tackles (57 solo), 29½ tackles for loss, 21 sacks and six passes broken up.
