Jennings is expected to compete for the No. 2 or No. 3 wide receiver position behind Donald Driver. He also will challenge for the role as the team's punt returner and/or return kickoffs.
Jennings, a native of Kalamazoo, Mich., led the nation in receptions per game (8.91) in his 2005 senior season. Also last year, he became the first Mid-American Conference performer to earn league MVP and offensive player of the year recognition in the same season since Randy Moss of Marshall did so in 1997. Jennings attended the same high school (Kalamazoo Central) as New York Yankees superstar Derek Jeter.
Six of Green Bay's 12 draft picks are now under contract. Those who reportedly signed four-year deals include defensive end Dave Tollefson (June 23), defensive tackle Johnny Jolly (July 7), safety Tyrone Culver (July 11), cornerback Will Blackmon (July 14) and tackle/guard Tony Moll (Tuesday).
Each player got minimum base salaries of $275,000 this year, $360,000 in '07, $445,000 in '08 and $530,000 in '09.
According to a report, Blackmon received a signing bonus of $433,500 and total compensation of $2.044 million. Moll got a signing bonus of $145,000 and total compensation of $1.755 million. Jolly got a signing bonus of $94,600 and total compensation of $1.705 million. Culver got a signing bonus of $93,500 and total compensation of $1.704 million. And Tollefson got a signing bonus of $35,000 and total compensation of $1.645 million.
The Packers led the league this off-season with 12 draft choices.
