Marques Anderson's training camp diary

Editor's note: Rookie defensive back Marques Anderson has agreed to provide his thoughts on training camp in the form of a diary for He will provide updates on his diary as often as possible throughout his first camp with the Green Bay Packers.<p>

Here is what Anderson, Green Bay's third round draft pick this year, had to say after today's practices:

Monday, July 29: "We had two practices today and it was pretty hot during each one. You've got to make sure you stay hydrated, get a lot of fluids in you.

"Today was the first time we practiced in the "dime" package in camp. The dime is a passing defense that features six defensive backs. It was fairly new, but I caught on pretty quick. When an offense comes out with three or four wide receivers, I've got to cover the third wide receiver or the fourth wide receiver, depending on what personnel they've got coming in. It's just the defense putting in an extra defensive back and taking out a linebacker. I usually will line up in the "slot," or the area between the offensive line and wide receiver split out the farthest from the line of scrimmage.

"I felt good. I practiced with the second-team dime unit and I knew all my responsibilities. I pick up things rather quickly, so it wasn't that hard. It's just about getting out there and playing ball."
