Marques Anderson's training camp diary

Editor's note: Rookie defensive back Marques Anderson is providing his thoughts on training camp in the form of a diary for packerreport.com. He will give updates on his diary as often as possible throughout his first camp with the Green Bay Packers.<p>

Here is what Anderson, Green Bay's third round draft pick this year, had to say after today's practices:

Aug. 3, 2002: "Today we had a team scrimmage and we stepped it up a little bit, got after it a little bit. It was good. I wasn't nervous at all. This is my job. This is what I love to do, play football. Actually it was a little exciting, getting out here and getting to 'thud' (hit but no tackle) it up a little bit.

"I played on the first-team dime defense, but I've been playing every position in the defensive backfield – free safety, strong safety, in the dime package I've been playing the 'buck nickel' and the 'will nickel' (in place of the linebackers). They're teaching me every spot in the secondary just in case somebody goes down or something. Then I'll be ready to go in there.

"The scrimmage went good. We didn't give up a lot of big plays. I feel like I did fairly well."
