Players, coaches welcome Robinson

Wide receiver Koren Robinson joined the Green Bay Packers for practice on Wednesday and is expected to play in Sunday's home game against the New Orleans Saints. Packers players and coaches, at least publicly, have welcomed Robinson with open arms and are excited to see him contribute.

Here are some comments from various individuals on the arrival of Robinson:

Head Coach Mike McCarthy
On if Robinson will be a distraction to the team:
"Anytime I deal with situations, I look at them from a professional manner and a personal manner. Koren's situation is a personal struggle. Everything we do as a football team in our locker room is vital for our success. If by any means we thought that would have been a distraction or a negative effect in our locker room, we wouldn't have went in that direction, no matter who the player is. A lot of conversation went on about that, there's a lot of history with Koren and a number of individuals in our organization. We feel comfortable with our decision."

Safety Marquand Manuel
Overall thoughts of playing again with Robinson (both were with Seahawks in 2004):
"Koren is a great guy. I was doing a radio show yesterday about him. I said, ‘When I seen him, I gave him a hug.' He's a great guy. A lot of bad things that have happened to him, but at the same time, you've got to understand that we brought him here as a football player. He works extremely hard in practice and plays extremely hard. You've got to give a guy another chance, give him a clean slate. If you keep pointing fingers at him, he's never going to get better. You've got to embrace him and move on."

Defensive end Aaron Kampman
On his thoughts about Robinson:
"Obviously those are decisions made way above this locker room. We support whatever decision is made. I had a chance to say hello to Koren. He seems like a great guy and we'll welcome into the locker room and the team here, and hope he can help us."

On if Robinson deserves a second chance:
"I think life is about second chances, whether it's football or anything. He's got another chance, and hopefully he'll make the most of it for him and our club."

Linebacker A.J. Hawk
Overall thoughts on Robinson:
"I think people just want to win in the NFL. Anyone that can help this team out, I think we'll welcome them. If you can help the team win, that's the name of the game here. We're looking forward to getting him on the field."
