The Green Bay Packers signed free agent linebacker Kenny Harney and released linebacker Adrian Hollingshed today. Harney played for the University of South Carolina in 2001.<p>
Harney, 6-3 and 250 pounds, was the third-ranking tackler on the Gamecocks' defense last season, posting 86 stops. He also had 1 interception, 1 fumble recovery, 2 quarterback sacks and 2 tackles for loss.
A starter for 11 of South Carolina's 12 games, he closed out his four-year varsity career with 276 tackles, 32 tackles for loss, 6 quarterback sacks, 2 interceptions and 7 fumble recoveries.
Harney was signed by the Houston Texans on June 3 and cut on Aug. 3.
Hollingshed injured his shoulder earlier in training camp and agreed to an injury settlement with the team.
