Favre, Barnett return to practice

Injured quarterback 'throwing a lot of completions'

Quarterback Brett Favre and linebacker Nick Barnett each took reps in practice on Friday, indicating that both will be ready to start Monday night against the Seattle Seahawks.

Favre took all the snaps with the first-team offense today and it appears that his right arm is feeling much better. Favre is recovering from his elbow and groin injuries sustained Nov. 19 against New England. He's still listed as questionable on the Packers injury report, but that may be changed to probable as game time nears.

"He was throwing a lot of completions," said offensive coordinator Jeff Jagodzinski. "We didn't have one drop today. It was one of our better practices all season. It was really crisp, which was encouraging. The guys got a day off and were a little bit fresher. I think that really helped us."

Coach Mike McCarthy gave the Packers a day off to spend time with family and friends on Thanksgiving Day. The team returned to practice Friday and will practice again on Saturday before leaving Sunday for Seattle.

Barnett split reps on Friday with rookie Abdul Hodge at middle linebacker. Barnett is recovering from a broken right hand. He practiced with a club-like cast on his hand.

"As far as tackling, I guess you could just form tackle, but the biggest thing is trying to get off blocks, shed guys. If it doesn't hurt, I guess you could really punch the h--l out of somebody, but I guess I'll just go with it, flow with it," Barnett said.

If Barnett is unable to play, Hodge will start. Thus far, Hodge has only participated on special teams. He also missed five games with a sprained left knee.

"You tell yourself you are going to play that way, you are in the right mind state, and you are ready," Hodge said. "That's how I've got to prepare to be ready. And Nick is doing a great job, so I got to pick off where he left off from."
