Brett and the Jets

Favre to get reacquainted with seldom-met New York Jets

In preparing for Sunday's game, Brett Favre probably looked at the opponents' film and said, ‘Who are these guys?' It has been a brief history when it comes to Favre and the Big Apple's AFC team.

Here is a breakdown of "Brett and the Jets:"

*Favre has faced the Jets only three times in his 15-year career. The only team he has faced fewer times is the Houston Texans (once). In addition to the Jets, Favre has taken on the Baltimore Ravens, the Indianapolis Colts, the Jacksonville Jaguars, the Kansas City Chiefs and Oakland/Los Angeles Raiders three times.

*Favre is in 1-2 against the Jets. The Jets are one of just four franchises against which Favre has one or no victories. Favre has yet to defeat the Chiefs (0-3). In addition to the Jets, Favre has only defeated Houston (1-0) and Indianapolis (1-2) once.

*Favre is 50 of 95 (53 percent) with 507 yards with four touchdowns and two interceptions against the Jets. He has been sacked three times and carries a 73.4 quarterback rating vs. the Jets.

*Favre's rating is the second lowest he carries against any foe (entering 2006). The only team Favre has performed worse against is Denver (57.3).

*Favre's four touchdown throws against the Jets are tied for the second lowest against any team he has faced. Favre has victimized Houston once and the Jets, Steelers and Redskins four times.

*Favre's only win against the Jets came in a Sunday night game Nov. 13, 1994 at Lambeau Field. In that 17-10 triumph, Favre was 20 of 28 for 183 yards with two touchdowns and no interceptions. Favre's touchdown passes went for 11-yards to Robert Brooks and 17-yards to Anthony Morgan. Favre also rushed seven times for 21 yards as the Packers won for the fourth straight game.

*Favre was 14-of-34 for 152 yards with a touchdown and an interception in a loss to the Jets Sept. 3, 2002 and 16-of-33 for 172 yards with one touchdown and one interception in a loss to the Jets Dec. 29, 2002.

*Since Favre started his iron man streak, the Jets have enlisted 14 different starters at quarterback. They are Brooks Bollinger, Bubby Brister, Quincy Carter, Boomer Esiason, Glenn Foley, Ray Lucas, Rick Mirer, Browning Nagle, Ken O'Brien, Neil O'Donnell, Chad Pennington, Frank Reich, Vinny Testaverde and Jack Trudeau.

*Jets starting QBs against Favre and the Packers: Esiason in 1994, Testaverde in 2000 and Pennington in 2002.
