Injury update

Montgomery out for the season, Driver returns to practice

The Green Bay Packers will be without defensive end Michael Montgomery for the rest of the season. Montgomery is likely headed toward the season-ending injured reserve list, according to reports.

Montgomery, a second-year pro, sustained a torn posterior cruciate ligament and a sprained medial collateral ligament in his right knee in practice on Dec. 7. He did not play in last Sunday's game at San Francisco.

"I won't be playing - not the rest of this year," Montgomery told the Green Bay Press-Gazette on Thursday. "I just have to wait for it to heal."

Montgomery played in 11 games with 1 1/2 sacks.

-- WR Donald Driver practiced Thursday after being held out the previous day because of a shoulder injury that he incurred last Sunday at San Francisco. Driver, who ranks fourth in the league with 1,103 receiving yards, is expected to play Sunday against Detroit. He remains questionable on the injury report, however.

-- WR Ruvell Martin didn't practice for the second consecutive day and remains questionable at best for Sunday's game. The No. 3 receiver is recovering from a chest bruise sustained in the last game. Carlyle Holiday has been practicing in Martin's spot.

-- TE David Martin practiced for the second consecutive day and is making a push to play for the first time in four games. Martin, who leads the team's tight ends with 21 receptions, is questionable for Sunday with his lingering ribs injury.

-- CB Charles Woodson remained out of practice Thursday but is expected to participate Friday and be ready for Sunday's game. Woodson is probable with a shoulder injury he aggravated in the last game.

-- RB Ahman Green was back in practice after getting his customary Wednesday off to rest his chronically sore knees. Green is probable for Sunday's game.

-- C Scott Wells returned to practice after missing a day because of illness. He is probable for Sunday.

-- S Atari Bigby has yet to practice this week and remains questionable for the game. The special teams contributor suffered a hamstring injury in the last game.
