Running backs in motion

List of free agent backs who made visits with different NFL teams

There have been plenty of visits in recent days by free agent running backs of interest to Packers fans around the league. With Ahman Green in Houston and William Henderson out the door, one of the Packers' main roster needs at the present time is in the offensive backfield.

Here is a look at where other unrestricted free agents have visited on Wednesday, or teams they plan to visit:

-- As expected, fullback Justin Griffith met with the Green Bay Packers on Wednesday in Green Bay. It was not immediately known if a deal was struck.

-- Jamal Lewis (Baltimore) and the Cleveland Browns agreed to a contract on Wednesday night after his visit to Cleveland, according to The Ravens released Lewis to clear salary cap room.

Lewis, 27, decided not to wait and took Cleveland's offer. He rushed for 2,066 yards in 2003 but has struggled during the past three years. Last year, he played the entire season with a bone spur problem. He recently had surgery to remove the spurs.

The 5-foot-11, 245-pound back is one of the league's most powerful runners. He was the Ravens' first-round draft choice in 2000.

-- Dominic Rhodes (Indianapolis) is scheduled for a visit with the Tennessee Titans this week, according to The City Paper in Nashville.

Rhodes' agent Mark Bartelstein confirmed that the running back, who was one of the stars of the Colts' win over the Chicago Bears in Super Bowl XLI, is scheduled to arrive in Nashville likely Wednesday night, or on Thursday. He met with Buffalo on Tuesday.

Rhodes, 28, ran for 113 yards and a touchdown in the Colts 41-29 Super Bowl victory over the Chicago Bears. However, he also was arrested on a drunken driving charge in Indianapolis last month.

-- Chris Brown (Tennessee) met with the Buffalo Bills Wednesday and is expected to spend part of Thursday with the Bills before heading off to visit the Detroit Lions.

Brown reportedly has drawn interest from the Packers, but has yet to meet with them.

-- Detroit already had a visit with free agent RB T.J. Duckett (Washington Redskins) earlier this week. Duckett also had a visit with the New York Jets on Wednesday. The visit with the Jets is kind of strange because they seemingly have the first three spots on the depth chart already tied up.

-- Darian Barnes (Miami) met with the New York Jets on Wednesday.

-- LaBrandon Toefield (Jacksonville) met with the Miami Dolphins on Wednesday.

-- Corey Dillon (New England) is scheduled to meet with the Buffalo Bills on Thursday.
