Running back placed on waivers

Beach spent all of last season on team's injured reserve list

Running back Arliss Beach was placed on waivers Friday by the Green Bay Packers Friday, the team announced.

Beach sustained a high-ankle sprain during the Packers' third preseason game last August and was put on season-ending injured reserve. Until that point, he was making a strong push for a roster spot, despite suffering a concussion early in camp. Beach, however, still was not able to practice with the team this off-season.

With Beach out of the picture, the Packers Beach's release leaves the Packers with five halfbacks competing for three or four roster spots, depending on how many fullbacks the team retains - Vernand Morency, Brandon Jackson, Noah Herron, P.J. Pope and DeShawn Wynn.
