He took time after practice today to answer a few questions from PackerReport.com's Todd Korth:
Q: Is it realistic for you to learn this offense and play on Sunday against the Eagles?
Ryan Grant: "I'm going to do everything I can, you know? I'm going to do everything I can to put myself in that position, but we'll see. That's up to the coaches. I'm going to do everything I can to make sure I'm available on Sunday."
Q: Are you familiar with this kind of zone blocking scheme?
RG: "It's not totally foreign to me. Certain terms. It's been a while, but certain terms and stuff like that. To be honest with you, a lot of offenses have the same blocking scheme. It's just terminology, different jargon and different terms of what they're looking for. Once you get that down, you'll be OK."
Q: Had the Giants actually told you that you made the roster?
RG: "Yes, I kind of got the heads up that I was in a good position to make it about a week, or two weeks before (Saturday). The things that they asked me to do on special teams kind of solidified the things I was doing and stuff like that. I kind of knew what was going on. My agent called me the day I made the team officially, but about 4:30, 5 o'clock, I got another phone call from Kevin Abrams and Jerry Reese and they told me about the situation.
"I respect the New York Giants organization. They did a lot for me the last two three years. I understand the business aspect. I wish them the best. I've got a lot of close buddies that I'm going to see in Week 2 (Sept. 16). Hopefully they won't do too well."
Q: Are you looking forward to that game already?
RG: "I'm not really focusing on it, because there is a lot to focus on this week, but, yeah, that will be a special week."
