Pundit panel consensus gives Chargers the edge in Sunday's showdown at Lambeau

Packers 2007 season prediction record: 2-0

Sunday's game: San Diego 24, Green Bay 17
Comment: I really, really want to pick Green Bay because this is a game the Packers can win. Their 'D' has been one of the best in the early going, Brett Favre has looked as sharp as ever, and special teams has been a pleasant surprise. But the running game is woeful, the blocking has been suspect, and San Diego has too much talent on its roster to lose two games in a row, even to an up-and-coming Packer team.

Comment: The Green Bay Packers have a chance to really make a name for themselves this Sunday vs. the San Diego Chargers at Lambeau Field. I look for the Packers defense and special teams to again play well, and I also expect the Packer offense to do enough. This could be the week the DeShawn Wynn does enough to wrestle the starting HB job from Brandon Jackson. The Packer defense obviously needs to key on LaDainian Tomlinson and Antonio Gates and I think the ‘D' will also create a turnover or two. Also, look for Brett Favre to distribute the ball to many receivers once again.

Comment: If the Packers couldn't move the ball against the Eagles' decent defense, how on earth are they going to get anything done against the Chargers?

Sunday's game: San Diego 27 Green Bay 10
Comment: Bad spot for the Pack. With San Diego coming off last Sunday's embarrassment, it will play this game as a must win and overmatch the Packers.

Sunday's game: Packers 31, Chargers 27
Comment: If momentum is indescribable mental warfare, the Packers are already winning the fight. Brett Favre should be able to do what Tom Brady (25-31, 279 yards, 2 TD) did against San Diego last week. Favre is locating his tight ends and taking what the defense allows. This game is hyped as LT's coming out party. It may be. But Favre will do more and Green Bay's 'D' will do just enough.

Sunday's game: Chargers 27, Packers 14
Comment: The Packers have done many good things in their first two games. A young, aggressive defense is coming together and making plays. Special teams have been outstanding. Those who are still trying to bury Brett Favre can put away their shovels - the man can still be a difference-maker. Unfortunately, the Packers are facing one of the most talented teams in the league in San Diego and they are bound to come to Green Bay with a serious attitude. They've got something to prove after being humiliated by New England on national TV and no doubt they are determined to take it out on the Packers. Stopping LT, Phillip Rivers and Antonio Gates is only part of Green Bay's worry. They've got to discover a running game to balance their own offense. Unlike the Giants, the Chargers have an excellent defense and scoring against them will be a tall order.

Pre-season prediction on Green Bay's 2007 record: 7-9
Sunday's game: Chargers 24, Packers13
Comment: If the Packers have been weak in one area defensively, it has been against the run. And LT is due to break out after a slow start in his first two games. I think he has a big day against the Packers. The Packers' offense, on the other hand, will need another big performance to pull off an upset as a home underdog.

Sunday's game: Packers 21, Chargers 17
Comment: This week I have an upset. I see Brett using the same game plan as last week, using short passes as runs, and the defense getting after Philip Rivers, allowing the Packers to turn turnovers into points.

Sunday's game: Chargers 21, Packers 13
Comment: The Packers' fans are buzzing with a 2-0 start, but after San Diego got its butt whipped last week against Bill Belicheat, the Bolts will be keyed up for this one. Also, LT won't be held under 50 yards for three straight games. How about this: If DeShawn Wynn outrushes LT, the Packers win.

Packers 2007 season prediction record: 1-1
Pre-season prediction on Green Bay's 2007 record will be 8-8
Sunday's game: Packers 24, Chargers 17
Comment: Why not pick the Packers to pull off the upset? There is a quiet confidence and momentum amid this team that should carry it Sunday to a 3-0 record, despite facing a team that is predicted to win the AFC title this season. Green Bay's defense is for real, and the energy of the home crowd will only help the Packers contain the Chargers' offense.
