Favre has Bears' number

Among Brett Favre's many claims to fame is his remarkable record against the arch-rival Chicago Bears. Since joining the Packers in 1992, Favre is 16-4 vs. the Bears, including an awesome 10-0 run from Halloween 1994 through Dec. 27, 1998. The streak was broken by a loss on Nov. 7 1999. Now Favre and the Packers have embarked on another streak, riding three consecutive wins coming into Monday's prime time showdown.<P>

The MNF contest puts a new twist on the rivalry with a new venue, Memorial Stadium in Champaign, Ill. Here's a quick trip down Favre's career path against Chicago – the road has led upwards with only a handful of downward turns:

Oct. 25, 1992: 30-10 L (GB)

Nov. 22, 1992: 17-3 W (C) Game Note: The first of coach Holmgren's 12 wins over Chicago in his Packer tenure ... Edgar Bennett stepped in for the injured "Pookie" Workman and gained 107 yards on 29 carries, becoming the first Packer rookie with a 100-yard game since Steve Atkins in 1979.

Oct. 31, 1993: 17-3 W (GB) Game Note: With the Bears in the Packer red zone in the fourth quarter, safety LeRoy Butler hit Bear QB Jim Harbaugh's arm forcing a fumble, then recovered the fumble and returned it to midfield.

Dec. 5, 1993: 30-17 L (C) Game Note: Favre 36-of-54 for 402 yards, 2 TDs, 3 INT.

Oct. 31, 1994: 33-6 W (C) Game Note: Now known as the Monsoon Game ... Reggie Cobb scored a touchdown in this one, and Bennett rushed for 105 yards, but the real rushing "star" was Favre with a 36-yard TD run.

Dec. 11, 1994: 40-3 W (GB)

Sept. 11, 1995: 27-24 W (C)

Nov. 12, 1995: 35-28 W (GB) Game Notes: Favre 5 TD passes, 25-of-33 for 336 yards; 16-yard TD pass to Bennett broke open fourth-quarter deadlock and provided final margin…Coldest game-time temperature, 22 degrees.

Oct. 6, 1996: 37-6 W Game Notes: Favre reached his 20th TD pass of the season in Week 6 ... he connected with Antonio Freeman for 146 yards on seven catches, then a career high for 'Free.' (C)

Dec. 1, 1996: 28-17 (GB)

Sept. 1, 1997: 38-24 W (GB)

Oct. 12, 1997: 24-23 W (C)

Dec. 13, 1998: 26-20 W (GB) Game Note: Four Longwell field goals were the difference in this one ... former Packer camp hopeful Glyn Milburn returned a kickoff for a touchdown as the Bears managed only one offensive score.

Dec. 27, 1998: 16-13 W (C)

Nov. 7, 1999: 14-13 L (GB) Game Note: In an eerie coincidence, the Packers lose this one by the same score that they won the infamous 'Instant Replay Game' over the Bears 10 years and 2 days earlier at Lambeau Field.

Dec. 5, 1999: 35-19 W (C)

Oct. 1, 2000: 27-24 L (GB) Game Notes: Favre 31-of-48 for 333 yards, 3 TDs.

Dec. 3, 2000: 28-6 W (C)

Nov. 11, 2001: 20-12 W (C) Favre hit Freeman with a nine-yard TD bullet, marking the duo's 55th TD combo and moving them into sixth place on the NFL's all-time list.

Dec. 9, 2001: 17-7 W (GB)

*Several of Favre's career marks have come against the Bears. He has achieved his career high completions (36), passing yards (402), touchdown passes (5), longest pass (99-yard TD pas to Robert Brooks) and passer rating (147.2) in various contests vs. Chicago.

*Favre has passed for more than 300 yards four times vs. the Bears, but the results have been split. GB is 2-2 vs. Chicago when Favre surpasses the 300-yard mark. Surprisingly, in Favre's only 400-plus yardage game (402) was a loss to the Bears Dec. 5, 1993.

*Favre is an amazing 9-1 playing the Bears on the road. Of course, that record was forged at Soldier Field. Tonight, Favre has a chance to up his mark to 10-1 and add another venue:

*Memorial Stadium stands to become the 28th venue in which Favre has thrown for a touchdown. It would be the 20th stadium in which the Packers have won with Favre as their starting QB.

*Not only does Favre have an impressive record against the Bears, but he's also used to being in the driver's seat. Chicago games account for only two of his 23 career fourth-quarter come-back games heading into this season.
