Packers-Panthers: Player notes

Injury updates, news on individuals from both teams

-- DE/DT Cullen Jenkins didn't practice Wednesday as he recovers from a bruised knee sustained late in the game Sunday. Jenkins might do some on-field work Thursday but should be ready for a full practice Friday and play in Sunday's game against Carolina.

-- FS Nick Collins will miss his second consecutive game because of a sprained knee. He is at least two more weeks from returning. Rookie Aaron Rouse will make the start again Sunday.

-- WR Koren Robinson was held out Wednesday to give him an extra day to rest a sore knee. He should be ready for the weekend.

-- TE Bubba Franks was on the field Wednesday for the first time since he suffered a sprained knee in the Oct. 14 game against Washington. Franks did some light running. He has been ruled out for Sunday and might be held back from the Thanksgiving game at Detroit.

-- CB Will Blackmon also remains out because of a broken foot sustained in practice in early October. Blackmon has begun cutting off to the side in practice and isn't being counted out from being available by the end of the season.

-- LB Tracy White isn't expected to practice until Friday as he deals with a sprained ankle. White played with the injury Sunday.

-- DT Justin Harrell still isn't over the hump with a sprained ankle that has kept him out of the last three games. He was limited Wednesday.

-- RB DeAngelo Williams is averaging 5.0 yards per carry this season, which is better than starter DeShaun Foster (4.2). However, Foster, who runs harder and picks up the tough yards, continues to get the bulk of carries for the Panthers.

-- C Justin Hartwig played through a broken thumb last week, which means the team didn't have to turn to rookie Ryan Kalil. However, the offensive line struggled against the Falcons, a team they normally run well against.

-- FS Deke Cooper was held out of practice on Wednesday with a shoulder injury.

-- FS Quinton Teal, a rookie, is the likely starter at free safety if Cooper can't play.

-- QB Vinny Testaverde and the Panthers rank second to last in the league in average yards per first down.

-- DE Mike Rucker did a better job last week of applying pressure and recorded his first sack. He was also in on another sack, but didn't get credit for it. The Panthers need Rucker to have a big week at Green Bay.
